*Update*
Sony is now advising that you do not turn on your older PS3 models to avoid further damage.
Yes. You heard right. Y2K has finally struck, ten years later and to a very specific group. Namely, PS3 Phats, whose dates are being reset to December 31, 1999, causing major outages, corrupted trophy information, and even the inability to play offline games throughout the PSN network. Sony is aware of the issue and is “looking in to it,” the typical response from companies second only to “taking it seriously.”

Yeah but this is only done to the 60gigs PS3. Mainly the launch models. Nobody with the Slim model has been hit.
True, and I mention that, but it's still not an acceptable activity, and remember, the Phats are still very popular because of the backwards compatibility, something Sony made a mistake in not putting on the Slims.
Exactly why I'm keeping my PS2 until it dies. Never had any problems with it and it has all the games I love from the first one. So they can keep the PSFail. I like my old games better.
lol
It's now a Twitter Trend LAWL! Eh, it's only the launch model 60gig PS3s. They're saying not to turn it on at all, someone hacked the PS3 and screwed everything up big time. Kinda funny but sad in a way. And for the backwards compat, I still have my PS2 and like AnnaKitty said, I keep it till it dies. I love my PS2
My 360 keeps me happy.
this
hahaha poor PS3 owners.
Never had a problem with my 60gb, cause I didn't mess with it that much during that time, except to watch a movie
