Five years have passed since Microsoft released the Xbox 360, and that has truly proven to be one of the best things they’ve ever done. They have recently stated and confirmed that the 360 has officially sold over forty million consoles worldwide.
Shortly after this statement, Microsoft also revealed its latest quarterly results which ended with March of this year. Xbox helped Microsoft gain about 1.67 billion dollars this quarter, which is a 2% increase from this same time last year.
Microsoft is hoping for even more of an increase this holiday with their release of Project Natal, a motion sensor camera for the Xbox 360. If Natal is even almost as successful as its hype, it is bound to be a huge money-maker and could even put a huge hurt on the Nintendo Wii. The video below was released at 2009’s E3 event.
It has also been rumored that Microsoft is planning to release a slimmer version of the 360. It has been suggested that this sleek 360 could be revealed at this year’s E3 event set to take place in June.
