When I heard about Kinect support coming to Mass Effect 3 I got worried. I’ve always felt that Kinect has no place in core video games and should stick to what it does best – mini-game collections.

The E3 demo suppressed my fears once and for all. The Kinect support consists of optional voice support for selecting one of the conversation strains that Mass Effect is know for, and the ability to use hand-motions to move your squad into new positions and formations.

All things considering – it could have been a lot worse – but don’t take my word for it. Check out the E3 video yourself.

Mass Effect 3 will conclude the trilogy early 2012.

To make up for the PSN outage they are offering you 100 free in-game items and two personal spaces as a peace offering to help you forget the gaming disaster of the year.

100 virtual items: The 100 free virtual items package will be available starting today from the Central Plaza kiosk. This huge package includes popular clothing and furniture items and has been made possible thanks to our 3rd Party partners – including Lockwood Publishing, Heavy Water, Codeglue, Konami, Mass Media, Digital Leisure, LOOT, and Hellfire Games.

Two personal spaces: The Dragon’s Lair and the Mansion Garage – a medieval abode based upon Digital Leisure’s classic game and a luxurious, premium personal space never before released to the PlayStation Home community – will be available to all players today from the Central Plaza kiosk.

Enter this interstellar casino and try your hand at Ooblag, a multiplayer game of craps…with a twist. Winners will be rewarded by being transformed into extraterrestrial high rollers while losers will be punished severely by Raaksu, the casino’s ruthless Pit Boss. As an added bonus, players that access the Ooblag Alien Casino space will be rewarded an active item version of the Ooblag game that can be played in their personal spaces.

According to IGN, Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi will be the first two to come to us through DLC.

They did it for Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 2, they can do it here too!

You may or may not have heard of Backbreaker, the newest attempt to take on the EA stronghold on the football game demographic. Due to the somewhat monopolistic hold that EA has on everything that is NFL, challengers to the football throne have all failed. But what Backbreaker brings to the party is something not even EA has ever attempted. Using their proprietary Euphoria engine, NaturalMotion has created a football game with real time, dynamic tackling.

Rather than pre-scripted tackling animations, like in all football games to date, every tackle in the game is completely real-time, resulting in a more realistic looking hit. However, in order to do that, NaturalMotion had to make every player in the game a completely realistic human analog, using natural movement of real humans to simulate that same movement in the game. But in an era where even scripted scenes and motion capture looks awkward, how does NaturalMotion intend to make, well…natural motion? (Un)natural selection.

Making a full human skeleton, and giving it full musculature, the NaturalMotion team set about tweaking those muscles in such a way as to create a walking motion. 100 different variations were created, and then tested. The 5 that walked the longest were deemed the most successful, and were then each copied 20 times. The team then altered subset nerves connections in variations that would occur naturally in a subsequent generation in a biological species. They tested the walking motion again, and again took the 5 best. Over the course of a few generations, NaturalMotion was able to force digital evolution on the skeletons, creating walking motions more natural than any motion capture or script could do, and leaving it completely dynamic.

Oh, and the really cool part of this whole experiment? This was in 2001. Since then, the (r)evolutionary process has been expanded to balancing, walking, environmental interaction, and yes, playing sports. This also isn’t limited to humans, but any animal that can be conceived of. So long as they can create it in a 3D environment, the evolution process can be replicated until even a create with four legs and 2 knees apiece can move in a believable way.

So what does this mean for us right now? It means that come May 18, we’ll be playing the most dynamic sports game, and maybe any game, ever created. Oh, and by this time next year, EA probably will have bought NaturalMotion. Just sayin’.

It seems MAG is doing it again.

I’m not even sure what to say about a game that releases free DLC like this one. I’ve already stated this feels like a meh effort on their part, but I’m liking the enthusiasm.

The new DLC will include the following

First, we’re adding three brand new Special Edition Sniper Rifles (Raven’s HM 90 SE, SVER’s SASR M, and Valor’s MK 14 Mod 1 EBR) that include a number of performance adjustments and visual variations to our already-popular long-range weapons. Second, you can expect to get your hands on a collection of new armor types! All three factions can now choose to equip Improved Light Armor in their loadouts for the bargain price of just 400 in-game credits.

So for free, FREE, players of MAG get to run around with this? (MK 14 Mod 1 EBR)

Still doesn’t justify the price of a PS3, but it’s definitely worth the investment for MAG.

Although having snipers better equipped seems like a bad idea, it is. Have fun MAG community. You’re a well taken care of niche.

G4 brings us our first look at City Interactive’s Sniper: Ghost Warrior, a covert sniping FPS set during the fictional military coup of Isla Trueno. As part of an elite sniper team, the player will be tasked with both long range sniping and close quarters combat, as well as infiltration and sabotage.

Most notable about the game is the environmental factors present. Rounds fired will be subjected to both wind and gravity. On top of that, the non-linear gameplay forces the player to determine the best course of action for their particular skillset in order to achieve their goals.

Tim Tebow hopes being the cover of NCAA 11 is the first of many post-college awards.

After much, albeit correct, speculation, ESPN broke the news this afternoon that Tim Tebow, college football’s most controversial star, will be the 2011 cover athlete for all versions of the game. This breaks the two year streak of having multiple athletes being the cover of different versions of the game. The last quarterback to appear on the cover was Boise State’s Jared Zabransky.

The article on ESPN features an interesting interview with Tebow as well, ranging from such subjects as his gaming habits to his opinion on whether the Florida coaching staff should have forced him to change his throwing motion.

NCAA Football 2011 is set to drop on Jul 13th of this year and feature new features including:
