My nefew wanted a lego star wars cake for his birthday so ma and I took the easy way out and made R2-D2 for him because it wasn't all that intricate XD She made the cake and laid the fondant down and I did the detail work.

I do all kinds of art: poetry, fantasy writing, layout design, photomanipulation, drawing, etc. I also play the guitar, irish whistle, ocarina, and am told I sing like Tarja from Nightwish (well, formerly from Nightwish >_>). But I am cautious of where I put my art.

Photoshop CS3. I draw directly to the computer with my graphics tablet. ^_^; My scanner sucks big time so ya. I do everything digitally.

Each chibi generally takes me 2-4 hours.

Honestly, the best way I 'learned' is by looking at other people's art and trying to figure out how they did something. When I look at art, I don't only look at the picture and say "oh that's pretty," I study how they did the lines. What colors they used for shading/highlights... how they colored the hair, eyes etc. Then I see if I can replicate it.

Looking up tutorials is a good way to start, but most of them aren't very good. The best thing you can do to help yourself is to take good criticism. People want to critique my work, I don't care at all. I'll listen to what they have to say and seriously think about it, then use it next time.

It helps that I'm a fast learner. If you were to look at my stuff a year or two ago, you wouldn't believe it.

Though, the number one way to get any better ( And this goes for anything ), is just to practice. Keep doing it. Play around with different things. It's really just all about experimenting. After all, there's no one "correct" way to draw/use Photoshop. People/classes can only give you techniques/skills to use.

You've got to be the one to put them all together, though.

My art shop on gaia has given me LOTS of that... I think I'm actually starting to get something close to a style! O.o Still want to get better though... so I keep experimenting. Sometimes, it goes well. Othertimes, not so much.
