Ok...So I guess we all have our own introduction threads, huh?

Guess it's my turn.

I'm Jay. I work in the game industry...so I know quite a bit about gaming.

I used to work as an anime art teacher...so I know quite a bit about anime.

I got 10 fingers, 10 toes, 2 arms, 2 legs...you know, the standard.

I like trying new things. Some here may know some of my other hobbies, but I've mainly been concentrating on gaming.

That's about it. If you have any questions, I'll me more than happy to answer them here :)

where did "radioactivemouse" stem from??

where did "radioactivemouse" stem from??

That's actually a very good question.

When the Interwebs started coming out...like around '96, I used the nickname "Halfpak" (which was my fraternity nickname; every once in a while I'll use it now) and I used it until about 2000 when I decided I wanted to use a nickname that wasn't alcohol related :P

During this time I was working for a sign company, making banners and what not. They asked me train on the software used to cut the vinyl, so I made a project to slap some vinyl on my car...I wanted to be funny, but I didn't want people to think I had a chump car, so I put on my car "Powered by Radioactive Mice"

And since I'm the guy driving the vehicle...I changed my screenname to "radioactivemouse". I thought it was clever and unique, so I stuck with it.

from the other forum:
"I'm Jay.

I work in the Game Industry and I live in Southern California.

I've had the privilege of working on some of the biggest games today: World of Warcraft and GTA4. I'm currently working at a Korean Game Company (which I'll remain nameless)...no, it's not Nexon or anything familiar. I've even taught kids how to make games at a tech camp.

I'm a graduate of the Art Institute of California, Orange County with a Bachelor's in Game Art and Design with emphasis on animation. I graduated last year and I've already got 5 games to my credit.

If you can't already tell, I'm a game nut. However, I can talk it up with the best of them on subjects like comic books, movies, general geek internet things, wrestling, cartoons, and sci-fi. My DVR is pretty much WWE, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, and Fringe (haven't watched it, but I have it recorded). My TV is almost locked on either Cartoon Network or Food Network or G4.

I have a wide variety of hobbies...some of which people know on this forum (see confession thread, lol). I also play WoW TCG and love learning new games and how they tick. I used to have a podcast entitled "Taz and Mouse: Crusaders of Truth and Pizza" but is now defunct and I currently run a podcast (which is on hiatus) called "Clone Chamber" about gaming news.

However, my lazy side does stupid things to me like not being able to finish most of my games or only get to a certain skill level in a game (like I can go to hard on Guitar Hero, and I'm really trying to finish drums on Expert on Rock Band), but I'm an all around cool guy. I don't have a short temper, and I'm usually the one cracking the jokes at a party.

I've had quite a bit of history in terms of anime as well. I used to teach anime art to kids which led me to be a freelance writer on NewType USA, so you can say I have a little knowledge about anime.

I can go into my huge music background...but I'm going to stop it there...

So that's about it. For now..."

My mom is full Filipino, but my grandparents come from different parts of the country.
My grandma is from Cebu and speaks tagalog and my grandpa speaks a different dialect, I forgot what it's called...
So I'm like mixed Filipino.

Yes, Frank. The Girl Scouts all over the nation make most of their revenue by selling Tagalog Filipinos every year.

=O
YOUR PARENTS HAVE A FILIPINO BAKESHOP!?
I want one.. That'd be so cool.
Where in Cali?? I have family in San Francisco and by San Diego, so I go there sometimes (more often San Francisco--and Tahoe)
I just went to a Filipino store out here on Long Island and I got some of the best hopia that I've ever had, it was made in a bakeshop in jersey though. I love that stuff. I also got like 4 pounds of macapuno, I think my mom is going to make some pie. mmm =D
filipino food make me giddy. :D:D

Bay area. Just about 30-45 min south of San Francisco.

But you have to tell me when you go there, so I can drive up there. My aunt actually runs the shop. I'm in Orange County (So cal), which is about 7 hours south of that place.

We gots tons of food there...Pan de Sal, Pan de Leche, Pan de Coco, Bibingka...you name it, we make it. It's even got Filipino Channel on like all the time.

Yeah, my family is fobbie...but they're family...I luv them :D

Filipino's are interesting in the fact that they have spanish sounding last names but don't speak spanish! Does Filipino(the language) have some sort of spanish roots?(I know it was a spanish colony)

The Filipinos are an example of how a whole nation can be influenced.

So yeah, the Philippines were a Spanish colony. So much so that the original Filipinos were considered "illiterate" (illiterate, that is to the Spanish language, we had our own written and spoken language), and in turn almost had our whole culture wiped out when the Spanish burned any and all existing Filipino written material so they could introduce the "Catholic way"".

This is the reason why there are a lot of Spanish words ("influence") in the Filipino language, but still tends to have the Asian feel. In fact, there is still evidence of the original Filipino language characters (sanskrit-like, I believe)...it looks kinda like a mix between Indian and Japanese/Korean.

In addition, the Philippines is a very strategic area for commerce in Asia, so it's become a port town of sorts for a lot of business...which has also had an impact on our society.

So it's not uncommon for a family to have roots back from places like Spain, China, India, Japan, Hawaii, Samoa...

Is there ube bibingka? Or ube sponge cake stuff? I like the sponge cake stuff that's purple and ube-ish.

Next time I'll be in San Francisco is probably going to be February. So we'll see. =] yayy (I love my fobbish family too!)

All this stuff I actually find interesting.
I think I'd actually maybe possibly ENJOY a history of the Philippines class. (I absolutely detest American/Global history and always have)
