I figured since I made it in the other forum, I should really make another one in this one.
Direction of this site.
There are some of you that I asked already about a site that was meant for sharing opinions and writing about it it. Maybe even turning it into a magazine. Well, this was supposed to just be a fun community site, but I feel it would be good to combine the two sites since things weren't moving anywhere on the other one. So, hopefully with the support of all of you, I will be combining the idea of having a site that provides opinions on games and the gameworld as a whole with the idea to have an amazing community site.
Of course this means some things may seem weird. Like me bringing in some of my friends and fellow partners Vince and Rick aka Penguin and Havok respectively. Some of you may know them from the failed venture of HGN. I will of course be bringing them in to be both general admins and run certain parts of the site. Of course, I would be running the community for the most part since I'm the one that actually knows most of you. Penguin will most likely be handling business things like merch and whatnot if he wants to. Rick will be handling most of the writing portion of the site. They are in charge with me though. Remember that. They are in charge. I'll restate it so it doesn't seem unclear. They're in charge. Everybody has that, right? Yes? Ok. Ya. This is for good reason. Trust me. ^_^
Since most of you don't know, the writing will most likely fall into a few categories. Things like reviews, editorials, etc etc. What I'm hoping we stick to is just opinionated writing coming from the writers on games, issues, and other things. To be completely honest, I'm not looking into being another copy of Otaku and those other news sites. I'm hoping to have intelligent writing that will bring people in because of how smart, witty, and/or awesome the writing is from the writers. I'm sure we'll have a few "look what we found" posts, but I'm sure that it won't happen THAT much and they'll be intriguing write ups.
So that's writing in a nutshell. I would ask you all to always check the front page for posts, comments on them, etc etc just to keep things flowing. I'm sure you will enjoy the writing and promote the site not just for the awesome community that you guys are, but for the content.
If you're interested in being a part of the writing portion, you can just contact me in some way. My myspace , email, etc etc. Whatever you want. I would, of course, need why you think you would be good and how you could help out. Before you go about just asking though, make sure to take the time to think about how much time you actually have to dedicate to this and how serious are you going to be. Also, to make sure if you can really be under both myself, and somebody you don't technically know yet, Rick. He will be wanting to run things on the writing portion of the site, which I will of course have him do. Just like any other "real" job, you will have people watching over what you do that you don't know and might get to know later. He will be that person. Rick is awesome, so I'm sure it won't be hard to get along with him if you do decide to be a part of it and I'm ok with it. You just need to really think about it clearly if you're wanting to do it. Ok? Ok.
Now, the comic. It's going to be a combination of the two ideas. The story will be done by me, Rick, and with help from Nick. (he gives me a lot of help when I don't have some ideas. <3). It will focus around a lot of things. It's in the works. Just need to get Maikol on it. lol
The forum part of this.
More content. I know that me and Rick had a pretty ok podcast going for HGN and we'll be continuing that as well. The name of the podcast will be The Auxiliary Channel. Obviously referring to the channel most people change the tv to play games. If you didn't get that right away, shame on you. As for that, I'm sure Rick will be cool with having more guests from the forum take a part in it. So make sure to keep your eyes open on that so you can try to take part.
Videos. I'll be loving to do videos. Most likely in the form of video podcasts of some kind. Maybe to discuss something on a more personal level or something to that effect. To discuss other issues. Buttsecks. Etc etc...
So we've talked theme, forum, videos, podcasts, and comics.
Mods. The people who will take care of the forum. I will be choosing these people and it will most likely be "overkill" but since it's my decision, I could care less about it being overkill. I will make sure that once this place picks up, it won't be overrun and undermoderated. You can send in an "application" to me if you wanted, but remember that it is ultimately my choice on who will be doing it. For those of you already here, it's a good chance to get it though since you are the regs. lol
So, that covers just about all of it. It's a lot, I know. Just take it all in and leave me feedback on anything and everything.
