Nintendo will introduce a new iteration of this Nintendo DS later this year, featuring a built-in camera and music playback. The new version of the DS is also reported to have improved wireless functions.
Hopefully it will have a decent sized HDD(if any). Otherwise I see Micro SD cards being used for storage.
Some versions of the report indicate the improved wireless capabilities will allow the new DS to connect to "information terminals," expanding the machine's non-gaming features.
I'm guessing 'download centers' will have movie trailers, music samples, and such. Maybe apps. An app for drawing on your pictures seems likely.
The Japanese version of the report mentions that pictures taken via the DS's internal camera can be used by games, opening up new gameplay options.
One word. miiDS.
Nikkei Net writes that the new version is "expected to be priced below 20,000 yen." The Nintendo DS Lite is currently priced at 16,800 yen in Japan. The new DS will launch first in Japan, with the country seeing an allocation of "several hundred thousand units" before any overseas sales.
I don't speak yen but I'm guessing it will be about the price it is now. The current DS will probably receive a pricedrop within the weeks leading up to it's release.

Yeah, the DS to DS Lite was great, but DS Lite to DSi just seems like a waste to me. Apple is what I compared the to because they have released a new iPod every few months for the past couple years.

The only good thing of the DSi is the bigger screens and DSWare. Everything else I could care less. Even my cell phone has a way better megapixel camera than the DSi.

The DSiWare and the nice browser make that thing, but STILL NO FLASH - so no youtube/veoh/hulu/newgrounds.
The bigger screen size is unnoticeable, really, I've compared it with my DSlite and you cant tell unless you measure it.

yeah, no flash kinda sucks, BUT now there's dsicade.com to play a small variation of games.
basically, look for games that are built in javascript. that works. not java. javascript.

I just think its lame because an iPod touch can run youtube/other video sites but the newest DS that was released after the touch can't.
